The project follows a hotel management agreement between Minor Hotels and Amal Group of Companies, bringing together an established international hospitality operator and an ambitious luxury property development. As this Thailand Hotel News report highlights, the proposed resort represents more than another upscale hotel opening. It signals a broader transformation in Phuket’s luxury tourism landscape, where wellness, extended stays, residential ownership, and environmentally conscious design are becoming increasingly important. The resort is currently scheduled to welcome guests in 2031.

A New Luxury Brand Makes Its Asian Debut

Minor Reserve Collection represents a different approach to luxury hospitality within Minor Hotels’ expanding international portfolio. Rather than imposing a standardized identity across properties, the collection emphasizes individuality, architectural distinction, personalized service, and authentic connections with each destination.

Minor International founder and chairman William Heinecke has indicated that the collection will occupy a particularly exclusive market position, complementing established brands such as Anantara while allowing individual properties to retain their distinctive identities.

The Phuket signing also strengthens Minor Hotels’ global luxury expansion, alongside upcoming collection properties in Slovenia, London, and Brazil.

An 11-Billion-Baht Development Takes Shape

Gardens of Eden is reportedly backed by an investment of approximately 11 billion baht, making it one of Phuket’s notable integrated luxury developments. Located approximately 250 meters from Bang Tao’s shoreline, the project will incorporate a 100-room hotel alongside 210 one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences operated within the resort’s accommodation inventory.

The wider development will also feature Etro Residences and Gardens of Eden Residences, combining hospitality with residential living and lifestyle facilities.

Approximately 70 percent of the development’s land is intended to remain green space, reflecting its emphasis on landscaping and natural surroundings.

Designed by Martin Palleros of Tierra Design, the resort will seek to integrate contemporary luxury architecture with Bang Tao’s tropical environment.

Wellness and Longevity Become Major Attractions

One of the development’s most ambitious features is a dedicated wellness facility exceeding 5,000 square meters.

The substantial space reflects growing demand among affluent travelers for wellness experiences extending beyond traditional spa treatments.

Although the facility’s management arrangements and operating brand remain under discussion, its scale suggests an important role in positioning Gardens of Eden within Phuket’s competitive wellness tourism market.

Planned dining facilities include an all-day restaurant, two specialty restaurants, an organic café, and a lobby lounge.

Together, these amenities are intended to encourage longer stays and create a more comprehensive lifestyle destination.

Why Bang Tao Is Attracting Luxury Investment

Bang Tao has increasingly emerged as a preferred location for high-end hospitality and residential projects, benefiting from its beaches, established dining scene, proximity to Laguna Phuket, and convenient access to Phuket International Airport.

Heinecke has expressed confidence in Phuket’s long-term resilience, citing the destination’s recovery from previous disruptions, including the 2004 tsunami and COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Gardens of Eden executives have identified international property buyers from China, Russia, Europe, and the Middle East as important potential customers.

Interest from markets including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the United Kingdom also reflects Phuket’s increasingly diversified luxury residential audience.

A Significant New Chapter for Phuket

The arrival of Minor Reserve Collection could strengthen Phuket’s position in the increasingly competitive international luxury resort market. However, the project’s eventual success will depend on execution, market conditions, and its ability to deliver the distinctive hospitality and wellness experiences being promised.

With its combination of residential accommodation, extensive landscaping, and substantial wellness infrastructure, Gardens of Eden illustrates how developers are moving beyond conventional beachfront resorts toward integrated destinations designed for longer stays and lifestyle-focused travelers.

As Phuket continues attracting international hospitality investment, developments of this scale could influence the island’s future luxury tourism landscape.
