Martin Schnider, formerly General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, has meanwhile been named Area General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Suzhou. The appointments underline Mandarin Oriental’s strategy of moving seasoned executives with extensive internal experience into key leadership positions. For Bangkok in particular, Jones’ return combines deep knowledge of the historic property with decades of international management expertise, potentially giving the riverside landmark valuable continuity as Thailand’s increasingly competitive luxury hotel market enters another period of expansion.
