GOCO Hospitality is preparing to make a significant move in Thailand’s rapidly expanding wellness tourism sector with the planned opening of Fivelements Samui in early 2027. Located in Lamai on the popular resort island of Koh Samui, the new destination is expected to become the flagship property of the expanding Fivelements brand, combining traditional healing philosophies, tropical wellness experiences and contemporary longevity medicine within a distinctive beachfront setting.

The project will transform a former beachfront hotel occupying approximately two hectares of tropical forest rather than replacing the existing property with an entirely new development. GOCO Hospitality intends to preserve much of its original architecture, antiques and feng shui characteristics inspired by the former owner’s Chinese heritage. Fivelements Makes a Major Move into Thailand

Instead of simply recreating the Bali retreat, GOCO plans to develop a destination that reflects Koh Samui’s tropical environment and established reputation as an international wellness and leisure destination.

The resort’s planned experiences will include thermal bathing and rainforest bathing, using the island’s natural environment as an integral component of the wellness journey. An ocean-view yoga shala is also planned, creating a dedicated space for yoga, meditation and movement overlooking the sea.

Exclusive Longevity Clinic Takes Center Stage

Arguably the most significant component of Fivelements Samui will be its approximately 900-square-meter longevity center.

The facility is expected to be operated by Bangkok-based OLiv Longevity, which forms part of GOCO Hospitality’s broader wellness portfolio. Four certified doctors are expected to oversee personalized services encompassing health analytics, diagnostics and treatments.

The medical component could substantially differentiate Fivelements Samui from conventional luxury spa resorts.

Rather than concentrating exclusively on massage, relaxation and short-term wellness programs, the resort is expected to integrate clinical assessments and personalized health strategies with traditional therapies and restorative experiences.

GOCO’s broader strategy for Fivelements brings together precision medicine, longevity science, ancestral healing and regenerative living. Old Koh Samui Resort Gets a New Identity

Another notable element of the development is GOCO Hospitality’s decision to work with the character of the existing beachfront property instead of completely erasing its past.

The company plans to retain substantial portions of the architecture as well as antiques and feng shui principles associated with the property’s original owner and his Chinese heritage.

That could give Fivelements Samui an identity considerably different from the polished uniformity often associated with newly constructed luxury wellness resorts.

The preservation strategy also fits the wider Fivelements philosophy, which seeks to connect wellness experiences with local culture, traditional healing knowledge, nature and contemporary health science.

Fivelements Samui will consequently need to balance several identities simultaneously: an upscale tropical resort, a heritage-sensitive redevelopment, a destination wellness retreat and a clinically supported longevity center.

Nature Will Become Part of the Wellness Experience

Koh Samui’s natural environment is expected to play an important role in the resort’s programming.

Rainforest bathing, thermal experiences and the ocean-facing yoga shala indicate that GOCO intends to make the surrounding landscape part of the guest experience rather than treating wellness as something confined to indoor treatment rooms.

GOCO Plans Dedicated Village for Resort Staff

GOCO Hospitality is also addressing one of the less visible but increasingly important challenges facing resort operators: attracting and retaining qualified employees.

Plans for Fivelements Samui include a purpose-built employee village where team members can live on or close to the resort.

For a highly specialized wellness operation, staffing will be particularly important. The resort will potentially require medical professionals, wellness practitioners, culinary teams, therapists, movement specialists and experienced hospitality personnel working together to deliver its integrated programs.

Providing dedicated accommodation could therefore become an important operational advantage in Koh Samui’s competitive hospitality labor market.

Fivelements Begins an Ambitious Global Expansion

The Thailand project forms part of a considerably larger international growth strategy for Fivelements supported by GOCO Hospitality’s investment partnership with Fullerton Fund Management.

The original Fivelements Ubud in Bali is expected to undergo renovations before relaunching in 2028. Plans include renovated rooms and 11 additional waterfront villas while maintaining the retreat’s emphasis on organic farming, traditional healing, community engagement and plant-forward cuisine.

Expansion will then extend into Europe.

Fivelements Leysin in Switzerland is scheduled for 2029 and will transform a historic former hotel, sanatorium and Club Med property in the Montreux-Leysin region into an alpine wellness and longevity destination.

Current plans call for 60 keys within the main building, another 29 chalets, two restaurants and approximately 4,000 square meters of dedicated wellness facilities.

Fivelements Montenegro is subsequently planned for 2030 within the alpine landscape surrounding Biogradska Gora. The project is envisioned as an extensive wellness community incorporating residences and programming influenced by seasonal food traditions, including harvesting and fermentation.

Samui Could Define the Future of Fivelements

For GOCO founder and CEO Ingo Schweder, the broader objective is to develop destinations capable of supporting healthier living at different stages of a person’s wellbeing journey while bringing together local culture, evidence-based wellness, longevity science and human connection.

Fivelements Samui will become an important early test of whether that philosophy can be successfully translated into a scalable international resort concept.

If the property opens as scheduled in early 2027, it could further strengthen Koh Samui’s position within Asia’s increasingly competitive wellness tourism landscape while introducing a more medically integrated interpretation of the traditional destination retreat.
