The performance is highlighting AWC’s strategy of positioning its hotels to capture international MICE, leisure and event-driven demand rather than relying solely on Thailand’s broader tourism recovery.

Forward room revenue booked as of early August was already 30 per cent higher than at the same point last year. Pattaya is leading with bookings up a remarkable 283 per cent year-on-year, followed by Bangkok at 45 per cent, Chiang Mai at 39 per cent, Krabi at 12 per cent and Koh Samui at 10 per cent. Importantly, this Thailand Hotel News report finds that AWC’s performance is not being driven by occupancy alone, as the group is simultaneously achieving significantly higher average daily rates during major event periods.
Global Events Give AWC Hotels Major Boost
Wallapa Traisorat, president and CEO of AWC, said major global events are helping drive strong bookings in Bangkok and Pattaya, with the company expecting the recovery to strengthen further during the second half of 2026, supported additionally by government tourism stimulus measures.
Among the most important events will be the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, scheduled in Bangkok from October 12 to 18.
AWC’s major Bangkok meeting hotels, including The Okura Prestige Bangkok, The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok and Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, have already reached occupancy of around 78 per cent for the event period.
More significantly for hotel profitability, average daily rates are running approximately 98 per cent above the comparable period last year.
That combination of high occupancy and sharply higher ADR demonstrates the considerable pricing opportunity generated when international events bring large numbers of corporate, institutional and high-spending travelers into Bangkok at the same time.
Tomorrowland Creates Huge Pattaya Opportunity
Pattaya is showing an equally striking pattern ahead of Tomorrowland, scheduled from December 11 to 13.
AWC hotels in the destination, including Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa and Meliá Pattaya Hotel, have already reached approximately 62 per cent occupancy for the event, while ADR is running 105 per cent higher.
The numbers underline the value major international entertainment events can create for Pattaya’s hospitality sector, particularly when hotels successfully convert increased demand into higher room rates rather than simply pursuing occupancy.
Bangkok will receive another significant international business travel boost from Gastech 2026, taking place from September 14 to 17, adding another major event to what is becoming an unusually active second half of the year.
AWC Has Its Own Commercial Firepower
One important element behind AWC’s hotel strategy is that the company does not depend exclusively on the management companies operating its individual properties.
AWC has its own teams working alongside those of the international hotel operators, while also deploying its own strategic marketing and public relations consultants to provide additional support for the success, positioning and visibility of its properties.
This creates an additional commercial layer around hotels that already benefit from the international distribution networks, loyalty programmes, sales infrastructure and brand recognition of major global hospitality groups.
In effect, AWC can combine the capabilities of international hotel management companies with its own owner-level portfolio strategy, marketing initiatives, communications and additional promotional efforts.
That can become particularly valuable around major events, when timing, positioning, pricing and market visibility can determine how effectively a hotel converts a temporary surge in demand into higher revenue and profitability.
Rather than treating each property purely as an individually managed hotel, the approach allows AWC to support assets from a wider portfolio perspective.
Pattaya RevPAR Soars 169 Per Cent
AWC’s second-quarter results already show strong momentum in several destinations.
Hospitality revenue reached 2.761 billion baht, representing year-on-year growth of 5.7 per cent.
Pattaya delivered the most dramatic RevPAR increase, surging 169 per cent, supported by two hotels that opened during 2025. Chiang Mai recorded RevPAR growth of 31 per cent, while Koh Samui increased by 10 per cent. The improvement is also reaching the bottom line.
Hospitality EBITDA increased 9.7 per cent to 742 million baht, while the division’s EBITDA margin expanded from 25.9 per cent to 26.9 per cent as stronger operations were accompanied by cost controls.
Luxury Repositioning Targets Much Higher ADR
AWC is simultaneously pursuing a longer-term strategy aimed at raising the earning potential of individual hotel assets.
Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit, the first Fairmont hotel in Thailand, which opened yesterday, strengthens AWC’s presence in luxury hospitality and the lucrative MICE segment.
The group is also repositioning existing properties under more premium international hotel brands.
The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket is being converted into a Ritz-Carlton. AWC expects the repositioning to potentially triple the property’s ADR.
Meanwhile, Jubilee Prestige Hotel Ratchadapisek is being rebranded as a JW Marriott, with the company expecting its ADR to roughly double following the transformation.
These projects demonstrate that AWC’s growth strategy is not simply about accumulating additional hotel rooms. Increasing the revenue-generating potential of existing assets through premium positioning and international luxury brands is becoming equally important.
100 Billion Baht Investment Pipeline
The expansion forms part of AWC’s five-year investment programme worth approximately 100 billion baht through 2030.
The company’s hospitality portfolio is expected to expand from 25 hotels currently to 35 hotels comprising approximately 9,312 room keys.
At the same time, AWC is preparing to establish a real estate investment trust containing up to 50 billion baht of operating hotel and commercial assets.
The proposed REIT could provide another mechanism for recycling capital from mature properties into future developments while moving the group’s balance sheet towards a more asset-light structure. AWC also believes the initiative could help revitalize Thailand’s REIT market.
Major Events Could Redefine Hotel Performance in 2H2026
The second half of 2026 will provide an important demonstration of how effectively AWC can capitalize on Thailand’s growing calendar of international events. Gastech, the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings and Tomorrowland are bringing very different groups of international visitors into Bangkok and Pattaya, yet each creates opportunities for hotels capable of strategically managing demand and pricing.
AWC’s early numbers are particularly notable because occupancy growth is being accompanied by significant increases in ADR. With Bangkok event-period rates approaching twice last year’s level and Pattaya ADR around 105 per cent higher during Tomorrowland, the company is showing how major events can translate into considerably greater room revenue rather than occupancy gains alone.
Its combination of internationally managed hotels, owner-level commercial teams, strategic marketing and PR support, luxury repositioning and aggressive portfolio expansion gives AWC multiple avenues through which to pursue further growth.
The coming months will show whether those advantages can translate into sustained RevPAR and profitability improvements after the major events have ended.
