The property, previously operated as Centara Life Phu Pano Resort Krabi, had been managed by Centara Hotels & Resorts, which has now lost the management contract for the hotel as ownership moves forward with a new international operator. This Thailand Hotel News report highlights another notable management change within Thailand’s highly competitive hospitality sector, where owners are increasingly aligning with global hotel companies to strengthen commercial performance, expand international market reach and capitalize on powerful loyalty programmes.
Former Centara-Managed Resort Begins New Chapter
The agreement represents a major milestone for both IHG Hotels & Resorts and Chok Deesuk Company Limited, which already partners with IHG through the nearby Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach.
By bringing the former Centara Life Phu Pano Resort Krabi into the Holiday Inn Express portfolio, the owner is expanding its relationship with IHG while introducing an internationally recognized select-service brand to one of Thailand’s most popular beach destinations.
The move also represents the end of Centara Hotels & Resorts’ management of the property after operating it under the Centara Life brand.
Growing Appeal of Hotel Conversions
Pathana Jitsaereetham, Director of Development, Thailand, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the company was delighted to strengthen its collaboration with Chok Deesuk Company Limited through the latest signing.
He said the agreement demonstrates the continued confidence owners place in IHG’s globally recognized brands, commercial expertise, worldwide distribution platform and award-winning loyalty programme.
According to Pathana, the conversion of the former Centara-managed property also reflects the growing momentum behind hotel conversion projects throughout Thailand.

Rather than constructing entirely new hotels, an increasing number of owners are repositioning existing properties under international brands that can immediately deliver stronger global exposure, increased bookings and enhanced operational support.
IHG noted that conversion signings accounted for almost 40 percent of its signed hotel keys in Thailand during 2025, underlining the growing confidence hotel owners have in this strategy.
Holiday Inn Express Debuts in Krabi
Once the rebranding programme is completed, Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang will become the first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Krabi.
The 158-room hotel will offer guests a modern accommodation experience while retaining its excellent location in the heart of Ao Nang, one of southern Thailand’s busiest tourism centers.
Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant, pool bar, outdoor swimming pool and fitness center, catering to leisure travelers, families, couples and business guests alike.
Strategically positioned approximately one kilometer from Ao Nang Beach, the hotel enjoys easy access to restaurants, cafés, shopping outlets and entertainment venues. Krabi International Airport is located around 40 minutes away by road, providing convenient access for both domestic and international visitors.
Latest Generation 5 Hotel Design
The hotel will also introduce Holiday Inn Express’ latest Generation 5 (Gen 5) design concept to Thailand.
Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang will become the first Holiday Inn Express property in Thailand and only the second in Southeast Asia to showcase the new design philosophy.
The Gen 5 concept has been created to meet the changing expectations of today’s travelers by incorporating flexible communal spaces where guests can work, socialize and relax while maintaining the brand’s emphasis on smart simplicity, functionality, connectivity and comfort.
The updated interiors are designed to appeal to modern travelers seeking efficient, contemporary accommodation supported by trusted international service standards.
Ao Nang Continues to Drive Tourism Growth
Ao Nang remains one of Thailand’s strongest leisure destinations, attracting both domestic and international visitors seeking beaches, island excursions and outdoor adventure.
The area serves as the gateway to internationally renowned attractions including Railay Beach, Poda Island, Chicken Island and Hong Island, while also offering a vibrant dining scene, nightlife and extensive recreational activities.
Its continuing popularity has encouraged international hotel companies to expand their presence in the destination as tourism demand continues to strengthen.
Owner Expands Partnership with IHG
Peeranat Deechaisatetha, Chief Business Development Officer of Chok Deesuk Company Limited, said the company was pleased to deepen its partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts.
He noted that the successful collaboration at Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach had reinforced the owner’s confidence in IHG’s ability to generate strong commercial results.
According to Peeranat, adding Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang complements the company’s existing resort operation while allowing it to cater to a wider range of travelers visiting Krabi.
He added that together the two IHG-branded properties will strengthen the company’s presence in the province while supporting Krabi’s continued growth as one of Thailand’s premier tourism destinations.
IHG Continues Rapid Expansion Across Thailand
The addition of Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang further strengthens IHG Hotels & Resorts’ rapidly expanding portfolio across Thailand.
The company currently operates 42 hotels under 11 brands nationwide and has a further 39 properties in the development pipeline, highlighting its continued confidence in Thailand’s tourism industry and long-term investment prospects.
The conversion of the former Centara Life Phu Pano Resort Krabi into Holiday Inn Express Krabi Ao Nang not only marks the arrival of the Holiday Inn Express brand in Krabi but also reflects the increasing number of hotel owners choosing internationally recognized operators to maximize the value of their assets. As Thailand’s tourism industry continues to expand and competition intensifies, management changes and strategic brand conversions such as this are expected to become an increasingly important feature of the country’s evolving hospitality landscape.
